Thousandfold
Maxim, Ashe and Guy have died one hundred and seven times. Every time, they wake in the sanctum, remembering everything and able to do none of it.
Their power is gone, their artifacts are scattered, and the war has not waited for them. Out on the plain sits a goblin camp, and if the rumor is right, one of the artifacts with it. Today could be death one hundred and eight. Or the day it finally ends.
Thousandfold is a turn-based tactics roguelite: Final Fantasy Tactics meets Into the Breach. Three heroes, six jobs each, and enemies that show you their next move before they make it.
Read the board, build your party, and take them through five hand-built isometric stages. Lose a hero on Normal and they stay lost. This free demo is the opening of a much bigger game.
Six jobs, every hero

- Warrior, Defender, Archer, Mage, Priest, Thief. Every hero can take any of them. Change jobs at camp between stages.
- Keep what you learned. Skills carry over to the next job and reshape to the weapon in hand. An Archer turned Warrior still has Concussive Shot, now a sword swing that knocks the target back a tile.
- A ladder per job. Each level unlocks the next skill. Mix jobs and carried skills until you find the party that breaks the run.
Enemies show their hand

- Threat. One key lights every tile an enemy can reach next turn.
- Incoming. See who is coming for whom before you commit.
- No surprises. Every enemy follows rules you can learn, and reinforcements are announced two turns ahead. When someone dies, it was the plan that failed, not the dice.
Position is everything

- Facing. Hit from the side for a better chance, from behind for a crushing blow. Choose where every hero faces at the end of their turn.
- Zone of control. A melee fighter controls the tile in front of him, or two with a spear. Step into it and your move ends there. It only points where he faces, so walk round the side of a guard, or turn your own fighters to shut the path to your casters. Bows and staves control nothing. The same rule binds the enemy.
- The terrain. Roads let you rush. Long grass and ruins turn blows aside. Rivers drown: push a goblin in and he is gone.
Every stage a new problem

- Objectives. Rout the goblins. Hold out for eight rounds. Bring down the elite. Reach the escape point. Then the troll.
- The troll. He comes for you, he slams the ground, and he does not go down easy.
Loot and camp

- Chests. Open one mid-fight and pick one of two.
- Camp. Between stages, level up, change jobs and swap gear.
